I heard a story on NPR yesterday talking about reducing food waste in the United States…and it made me remember this great article with 30 recipes to reduce food waste:
My two favorite ways to reduce food waste in my household are:
- I save all the discarded parts of veggies in a freezer bag until I have a day where I can throw them into a pot and turn them into a magnificent vegetable soup stock. The strained out bits go in the compost pile.
- I save all the stale bread in the freezer, too. Then I use it to make bread pudding, french toast, stuffing or croutons.
